The Construction in Indian Country Conference (CIIC) for this year was a dynamic gathering that brought industry professionals and Tribal Government officials together for insightful discussions on upcoming projects and industry trends. Our team at Willmeng was proud to sponsor this event and engage with colleagues while learning from the experiences of Arizona’s tribes once again.

What sets the CIIC National Conference apart is its status as the only national conference and trade show for the indigenous construction industry, hosted by a higher education institution in the United States. The convergence of Architects, Engineers, Planners, Lawyers, Contractors, and Tribal Government Officials creates a platform for sharing the latest industry trends, policies, and best practices.

At Willmeng, we recognize the importance of our specialized knowledge in supporting industry practitioners, tribal government agencies, and tribal enterprises engaged in construction projects within Indian Country. The conference provided valuable opportunities for networking, story-sharing, and learning from each other’s successes.

One key focus of the CIIC is to emphasize nation-centered building, respecting tribal sovereignty, and acknowledging the historical context of construction within indigenous communities. It’s not just about erecting structures; it’s about building in a way that honors the past while meeting the needs of the present.

The CIIC National Conference stands as a collaborative space where professionals and officials work towards the common goal of advancing construction practices in Indian Country. It’s not about grandiose statements but about practical discussions that contribute to the growth and development of the industry.

As we reflect on this year’s conference, it’s clear that the CIIC plays a pivotal role in fostering positive change within the indigenous construction sector. The commitment to practical solutions, respect for tribal sovereignty, and a focus on real-world experiences position this event as a catalyst for progress. Willmeng’s continued support underscores our dedication to these principles, reinforcing our belief in a future where construction in Indian Country is synonymous with sustainable development and cultural preservation. We have been proud to work on several projects with Arizona’s indigenous communities over the years.
