According to Luke AFB’s website, “the mission of the 944th Fighter Wing is to train and provide combat ready airmen.” During peacetime, the unit trains reservists for worldwide deployments and has participated in real-world operational deployments in Northern and Southern Iraq, and in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Willmeng continuously participates in Luke AFB related events and projects. In June 2016, Willmeng sponsored the Honorary Commanders Golf Classic, and later that year in October, Willmeng President, James Murphy, and Project Superintendent, Don Gleash, were inducted as Honorary Commanders. In addition, in December 2015, Willmeng completed the renovation of the base’s fire station, and in February of this year, the renovation was highlighted on CBS5.
