Meeting Milestones in the Advancement of Tribal Healthcare Access

Two major milestones mark a season of progress for the San Carlos Apache community as Willmeng continues its partnership with the San Carlos Apache Healthcare Corporation. The grand opening of the Clarence Wesley Health Center and the topping-off ceremony for the new Skilled Nursing and Long-Term Care Facility represent meaningful steps forward in expanding access to quality healthcare and supporting the well-being of community members across generations.

These projects reflect a shared commitment to building places that strengthen both care and culture. From honoring the legacy of respected tribal leaders to creating spaces for comfort, healing, and unity, each milestone celebrates the people these facilities will serve for years to come.

Clarence Wesley Health Clinic Ribbon Cutting

The new Clarence Wesley Health Clinic is now open, marking a major milestone in healthcare for the San Carlos Apache community. Replacing an aging, smaller facility, the new state-of-the-art clinic offers expanded and improved medical services, including primary care, dental, optometry, physical rehabilitation, imaging, pharmacy, and wellness areas, to better serve the 2,000 residents of the Bylas area. Named in honor of former Tribal Chairman Clarence Wesley, the facility celebrates his enduring legacy of leadership, self-determination, and commitment to community well-being.

“The success of sovereignty through the San Carlos Apache Healthcare Corporation shows that the San Carlos Apache tribe will no longer accept marginal healthcare, but instead we will lead, innovate, and redefine what healing means for our people. This new facility is more than a clinic. It is a living prayer, a promise that our people will thrive, that our traditions will guide us, and that no community member will walk the path of healing alone.”

Skilled Nursing & Long Term Care Facility Beam Signing

The San Carlos Apache community recently celebrated the placement of the final structural beam at the Skilled Nursing and Long-Term Care Facility with a special beam signing and topping-off ceremony. The new facility will provide long-term care, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and hospice services for the community’s elders, filling a critical gap in local support.

“We are very thankful for the leadership of this community, the vision of the San Carlos Healthcare Corporation, and grateful that you entrusted us with this opportunity. We’re in it for the long haul and we will continue to support this community into perpetuity.”
– James Murphy, CEO Willmeng Construction
