“We are very touched to receive [the Irv Shuman Award],” said Jennifer Schwarz. “[He] was a pillar in our community, as are other past recipients of this award. To be surrounded by over 500 of our community friends is overwhelming and incredibly special.”
According to a jewishaz.com article, when the Schwarz family moved to Phoenix, they wanted to do their part to help make The J a focal point in their new Jewish community. Jennifer has spearheaded efforts that include the building of the outdoor playground, teen sports league and a teen lounge. She has also been involved with preschool and youth programs. Steven has taken part in many of the financial and operational aspects of The J, including having leadership positions on multiple boards and committees.
Willmeng recently worked with Steven and ViaWest on the redevelopment of Biltmore Center in Phoenix, which was recently named a finalist for an AZ Big Media RED Award. Read more about the Schwarz’ and their recognition online. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
