In honor of September being Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, more than 50 Willmeng employees participated in the 2017 St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer at Chase Field in Downtown Phoenix. As of Sept. 16, the date of the race, the Phoenix campaign raised $160,017 of the $250,000 goal.

“It was a fun day,” said Isam Ghandour, chief estimator at Willmeng. “The kids were very touched to see a big gathering for all the people who are very sincere to find a cure for sick children. Can’t wait for next year’s walk.”

According to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, fundraisers like this ensure that families never receive a bill from St. Jude. For anything! St. Jude has helped push the overall survival rate for childhood cancer from less than 20 percent when they first opened their doors to 80 percent today.

“It was nice to see all the support that Willmeng families showed for a great cause,” said Craig Waymire, project engineer. “It was a terrific honor to help support an organization that has positively impacted the lives of so many children the way that St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital has.”
