On Saturday, April 18th, supporters around the world ran in Pat Tillman’s honor. In one day, people from all around the world, reaching Thailand, Germany and Afghanistan participated with runners throughout America to keep the tradition going in the middle of a global pandemic.
Instead of gathering to run the streets of Tempe, participants were encouraged to run 4.2 miles on their own. Willmeng’s registered runners decided to join in from their own neighborhoods to show their strength during a challenging time, and have a chance to get out of the house to run with a virtual community across Arizona and the country. By joining in this virtual run, Willmeng was able to help support a community of more than 600 Tillman Scholars, making their transition to their second act of service in healthcare, business, law, policy, education, and the humanities.
