Willmeng Volunteers at this Year’s Surprise Day of Service

Members of the Willmeng team joined the City of Surprise in October for its annual day of service! In one of Arizona’s West Valley cities, Surprise Day of Service allows Surprise residents and visiting volunteers to give back to the community. From community cleanups to food bank events, residents can get involved in many ways. This year, Willmeng’s builders and their families joined the fun by volunteering at a community cleanup in an effort to provide beautiful spaces for Suprise residents. From large-scale projects like Suprise Pool and Fire and the Fields at Countryside Park to Saturday mornings like this one, we are happy to support this community through initiatives big and small.

The Willmeng team started the day by repainting the perimeter masonry wall for one of the local residents, who has persistent issues with graffiti. In addition, employees helped to clean up the surrounding homes and neighborhood by picking up any trash or debris left behind! Neighborhood revitalization and cleanup events where minor painting improvements, landscaping, and refuse removal are offered free of charge to community neighborhoods and homeowners who may not be physically or financially able to maintain their homes as required by local codes.

Devon Colonis, an assistant project manager, was one of the many employees who joined the City of Surprise, and he shared why volunteering our time is meaningful to us here at Willmeng.

“It is important to give back and help out the communities we’re building in because that’s really what it’s all about. Bringing new economic opportunity development to the places we were building in.”

Willmeng employees are encouraged to work hard, have fun, and serve and engage their community in a powerful way. Our team members regularly volunteer in the community, serve our industry, and support causes they are passionate about. Learn more about our culture here.
